Inspired by Evelyn De Morgan’s Night and Sleep, this painting is an abstract reimagining of her dreamlike themes. Soft, fluid brushstrokes and rich, earthy tones evoke a sense of movement—like drifting into sleep, surrendering to the subconscious, or time itself slipping away.
Touches of gold and red add a celestial quality, while the interplay between form and abstraction allows the figure to remain elusive, existing somewhere between reality and reverie.
This piece marks a shift in my practice—a more instinctive, intuitive approach to painting. It is a work that unfolded naturally, leading me rather than the other way around. A beginning of something new.
