Nina Hunter is a Polish-born artist whose practice explores femininity, mythology, identity and transformation.

Hunter holds an MA in Fine Art from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Poland. She began her professional career as an illustrator before developing an independent studio practice, and has since exhibited in the UK and internationally, with work shown in London, New York and across Yorkshire. Her paintings are held in private collections in the UK and internationally.

Working primarily in oil and acrylic, Hunter creates psychologically charged paintings in which the female figure, often dazzling in her beauty, becomes a symbol, a vessel for desire, power and the imagination.

Nina lives beside the River Aire in Saltaire, Yorkshire, working from her garden studio immersed in the changing rhythm of the seasons.

Alongside painting, Hunter founded Saltaire Art School and Saltaire Art Gallery, creating an independent space for artists and audiences in the historic village where she lives and works.

Nina Hunter Gallery & Collectors Lounge is a destination for contemporary fine art in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, dedicated to the work of Nina Hunter herself and fine-tuned collaborations.

Established in 2026 following the evolution of Saltaire Art Gallery, the space reflects a singular vision: to present powerful, original paintings in a setting that honours both the art and the collector.

The Painting Process

It begins long before the brush touches the canvas. Working only with the finest quality raw linen, I hand-stretch each surface with precision and patience. Every frame is built by my own hands, crafted to the proportions of the artwork in mind.
An understated labour of love, this slow and intentional approach becomes the quiet architecture of the piece itself — my very quintessence of creating a new piece of art.
